Energy Star Pilot Program
Recognizing the need for municipalities to deal with aging building inventories that do not meet current energy code standards, the Office of Energy Development is launching the Energy Star Pilot Program. Through the program, we will partner with a qualified energy consultant who will train authorized municipal personnel to learn the EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager. Portfolio Manager is a free, secure, online tool used to measure and track energy consumption and performance of one building or a whole portfolio of buildings. The Energy Star Pilot Program will provide grants to qualifying municipalities through a Request for Proposal format. Those selected will receive free Portfolio Manager training for authorized personnel.
By providing the basic tools to establish a benchmark and track energy consumption, municipalities can determine where energy dollars are being spent and prioritize where dollars can be utilized to reduce wasted energy costs. Saving money on energy is an investment municipalities cannot afford to miss as energy costs rise.
