While best known for powerful performances on the ice, the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns marked the use of a new power source on Thursday. A solar array project at the venue has been completed. The 791-kilowatt arrah consists of 3,108 solar modules on parking canopy shade structures in the parking lot south of the building. The project aims to reduce the building’s need for market rate power by 20 percent. The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation says the cumulative savings amount is projected to total $3.7 million.
