Utah is a valued exporter of energy and minerals in the West, providing invaluable market access to major ports and population centers across several U.S. states.
WTC Utah partners closely with OED to develop international opportunities that increase exports of Utah's abundant natural resources and attract foreign investment.
Regional Electric Vehicle Plan
On Dec. 13, 2019, the governors of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming signed an agreement to enhance the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2017 to establish a Regional Electric Vehicle Plan for the West ("REV West Plan").
Western States Rural Natural Gas Initiative
On Nov. 18, 2019 the Western States and Tribal Nations agreement expanded to include the Utah Governor’s Office of Energy Development, the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uinta and Ouray Reservation ("Ute Indian Tribe"), the Secretariat of Economic Development of Baja California Mexico, the Colorado counties of Garfield, Mesa, Moffat, and Rio Blanco, Wyoming Pipeline Authority, and New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.
Energy is a key area for international collaborations, and it is a privilege to work with OED to build bridges abroad to advance market opportunities locally and globally.
Baja California - Utah Energy Export MOU
On Aug. 24, 2018 the Baja California’s Ministry of Economic Development and the Utah Governor’s Office of Energy Development signed an agreement at the Port of Ensenada to promote collaboration in advancing infrastructure, technology and global market access for Utah’s energy resources.
Mexico and Utah establish a working group to advance energy cooperation
Marking the first day of Utah’s trade mission to Mexico City, on April 9, 2018, Governor Gary R. Herbert met with Mexico’s Secretary of Energy, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, to advance energy cooperation through the establishment of a working group. The group will comprise of leaders across government, industry and education to foster information exchange, drive innovation and promote investment opportunities.
Israel and Jordan Energy MOU
As a key part of Utah’s trade mission to Israel and Jordan in October 2017, Governor Gary R. Herbert signed agreements with Israel and Jordan to promote collaboration in the water and energy infrastructure sectors to increase access to reliable, efficient and affordable resources.
For almost two years we have been working with OED to broaden market access of Utah´s energy resources. We are sure that our complementary strengths will open the door for shared projects in the near future.
