WHAT is energy class training?

Energy CLASS Trainings are funded by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of State and Community Energy Programs (SCEP) to increase  knowledge within schools for the promotion of energy, infrastructure, and health improvements in school facilities and classrooms across America.

The library of trainings have been designed to provide school districts with practical knowledge and resources around energy infrastructure projects that reduce utility costs and create healthier learning environments for students and teachers, as well as to identify funding pathways for advancing sustainability across the school district.

Over 35 hours of trainings are available across the following topics:

  • Fundamental Building Science
  • Benchmarking and Energy Management
  • Indoor Air Quality
  • Procurement Strategies for K-12 Facilities and Energy Managers
  • Resilience
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Business and Communication Skills

Anyone can take advantage of the Energy CLASS content, but it is especially   recommended for those working in facilities, maintenance and operations, sustainability, energy, finance, or strategic planning.

Previous trainees have used a train-the-trainer model to provide this content throughout their school district.
