Tribal STEM Curriculum
These elements are innovations that encourage and facilitate STEM learning
in rural and tribal communities.
This STEM curriculum has been produced in cooperation with the University of Utah, the Utah Office of Energy Development, and the Fort Washakie School in Wind River. These materials have been created specifically for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes on the Wind River Reservation.
These lessons include three key components:
- Place-based data and examples
- Traditional Indigenous knowledge drawn specifically from the histories, practices and knowledge of our Wind River partners
- Curriculum focused on the most relevant areas of science for the local community
Subsequent changes and adaptations to the original materials may not necessarily reflect the views of the original creators. Use or recreation of these materials should aim to retain the three elements listed above for maximum impact.
