Welcome

Utah is fortunate to have one of the nation's strongest economies and highest quality of life. Affordable, reliable and environmentally responsible energy plays an essential role in Utah's successful formula. Contributing over 20 billion dollars to Utah's economy annually, energy and minerals development is an important cornerstone of Utah's success. Along with supporting the overall state economy, energy and minerals production creates high-paying jobs—many of which are located in rural Utah.

The Governor's Office of Energy Development (OED) has been vital to navigating the rapidly changing energy landscape and has grown to become a national standard for delivering high-value results to a state's economy and residents. In fact, by advancing Utah's wise all-of-the-above approach, OED is viewed as a model for other states seeking to drive a brighter and more resilient energy future.

OED has elevated Utah as a regional, national and international leader by efficiently implementing state energy policy, managing its statutory market-based incentives, expanding new market access for Utah's commodities and technologies, and driving next-generation leaders and technology through energy education and innovation.

As the state looks to meet future demands, an all-of-the-above approach to resource development remains fundamental to fueling a thriving economy, maintaining a healthy environment and advancing innovation.

Thank you for visiting OED's website. We hope you find it informative and encourages you to get engaged in advancing Utah's energy future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Laura Nelson
